Introducing “Second Nature,” a zine about culture and agriculture in South L.A.

The zine is a labor of love, and the product of a lot of introspection about how to find your place in a community and an environment where you’re way out of step. It’s about the nitty gritty of growing a native plant garden, yes. It’s also about learning and listening as a newcomer to an already vibrant community worried about gentrification and losing its soul. Get some useful and quirky tips about Southern California native plants, which we planted in our South L.A. garden in the spring of 2024. Read the introduction to “Second Nature.” Be in touch if you want to learn more or get the zine: marilyn@urbanrenewable.org
