What Makes Communities Thrive?

At Urban Renewable, we work at the roots with neighbors in South Los Angeles to build resilience and fortify the places they love against climate change. Right now, we’re passionate about the cost and resource savings that come from planting California native gardens rather than grass. We don’t ignore the threat of “green gentrification” or shy away from the real cultural tensions that exist in our communities. Instead, we aim to promote cross-cultural conversations about native gardens among those who already live and thrive in South L.A., and to provide educational and resource platforms for anyone interested in giving native gardening a try. Interested? Get inspiration and ideas from our idiosyncratic list of native plants.
